There are numerous benefits to bone broth. Notably everyone in my house was pretty sick 3 weeks ago. Nathaniel’s was the mildest, and I didn’t get sick at all! As soon as I heard them sneezing, I started religiously sippin my bone broth every morning. The recipe is down below. Here are just some of the health benefits:
- It treats Leaky Gut, here’s how:
- It contains gelatin, which was shown in a Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology study, to support intestinal health and integrity.
- The gelatin helps the growth of the good bacteria in our gut.
- Collagen, and amino acids, which is what collagen is broken to in our bodies are also responsible for the helping build the lining in our intestines.
- There is a lot of collagen in it
- While collagen may not go directly to our skin, or where we want it to go at a given time, it is broken down into amino acids in our body and go to these and a variety of different functions in our bodies.
- Bone broth has clinically been shown to help with mucus expulsion during illness.
- It contains high amounts of protein
- It contains minerals our bodies need: calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, silicon, and glucosamine.
- It contains high amounts of essential metals our bodies need
- It contains very miniscule, clinically irrelevant amounts of any toxic metals.
- A double blind study showed that taking 2.5-5grams of collagen hydrolysate among women 35-55 once daily for 8 weeks supported skin moisture, elasticity. After four weeks they already showed marked improvement.[i]
- It is easy to digest
- Boosts healing
- It helps detoxify the body by helping expel toxins from our intestines and repairs the permeable membrane in the gut to also help with leaky gut.
- It contains potassium and glycine to support liver function as well (our liver detoxifies our bodies).
