Chiropractic care for autism/developmental delay/ADHD

The first early intervention I started formally in January (after our D-day) for Nathaniel, was pediatric chiropractic care. This isn’t your average chiropractor that cracks your neck, as Dr.Kassie will tell you, they only use as much pressure as you would to see if a tomato is ripe!  They treat children as a whole not just individual symptoms.  The goal of chiropractic is to help the brain communicate well without interference with the rest of the systems in your body. In this video, I sit with Dr. Kassie from Mama’s Chiropractic Clinic and she explains why you should consider chiropractic care for your child with developmental issues, whether they be autism, ADHD, sensory processing, speech delay.

The video includes how to search for a pediatric chiropractor, since not all chiropractors are trained in the neurological aspect our children struggle with.  The first time Nathaniel walked in, he did not want to be held, or touched, we had to really struggle to get him on the table to get adjusted.  They are amazing at helping even the most difficult child feel at ease.  They have adjusted Nathaniel on the floor, as he watched a fan, and even chasing him around the room.  Now, Nathaniel loves jumping on to the table to do “tic tok.”  Adjustments literally take less than 5 minutes.  We started going about 2 times per week and have slowly gotten it down to once per week now.

Nathaniel’s biggest improvements were as far as touch from the get-go.  He was never affectionate or loving hugs and about a month in no longer had an aversion to being hugged and kissed.  He now requests to cuddle with us and asks me for kisses!  There are some tips at the end of the video with what you can do yourself with your child at home.  Some sensory stuff that will help ease your child into the sensation of touch.  If you’ve gut questions, I’ve gut answers!
